Spending Quality Time With My Daughter

Hello all,

I just want to focus this week’s post on different ways and activities that I do to spend quality time with my daughter. With Jaya being 13 years old, I feel that this is a very critical time in her life. She is going through so many changes as far as her body and her mental well being and I want to continue to build that special mother-daughter bond with her. I remember me being 13 years old and spending that much needed time with my mother so I want to have those memories with my daughter so that in the future she will develop and cherish memories with her own daughter. With Jaya being a teenager during these times is a challenge for sure.  Technology is a huge thing now compared to when I was a young teenager.  We didn’t have cell phones, tablets or even social media so any issues with my daughter that may come up will be totally different from what I went through. As a parent, it is up to me to fully understand and get ahead of a lot of things.

Family Trips
Since Jaya has been a baby, I will always try to plan special trips for her birthday. She loves visiting new places and meeting new people.  She is such a social butterfly and she doesn’t have a shy bone in her body.  If she sees any kids her age, she is going over there and introducing herself to them.  Our special trip this year is a 7 day Disney Halloween Cruise.  This will be our first time ever going on a cruise so we are both excited and looking very forward to it.  I plan on blogging about our experience in a future blog post so stay tuned.

Shopping
Jaya like most girls her age loves to shop. So every couple of months I take her shopping so she can pick out a few things because she is very much all about her wardrobe now. Most recently, she has caught the beauty bug so I am now having to navigate what type of makeup and skin products that she will be allowed to use that will not cause any reactions to her skin.  I made the decision to let her wear makeup because she loves posting makeup tutorials on her YouTube channel.  She may not exactly know what product does what, but I am all about her being creative.  When she goes to school I don’t let her wear that much makeup but I truly support her. I am all about Jaya embracing her creative side and maybe in the future, I will be a mother of a very popular beauty influencer.

Card Nights
Another activity that we love to do is play cards. Jaya loves playing Uno and during those games, we just play and talk.  It gives me a chance just to catch up on what is going on in her life as far as school, her friends and some issues that she may just want to talk about.

My daughter is growing up and in a few years, she will be an adult. I just want to spend as much time with her as I can and continue to nurture her. I cherish these times with her and I am looking forward to the years to come.

Well, that’s all for this week, I truly hope you enjoyed and feel free to comment below.

Hi! I like your post and totally agree about 13 being a critical time in a girls life. We change so much around that age and so important to have a great relationship established with their mother and or parents.
